My loving husband, Mike Seneca, was diagnosed with Stage IV Signet Ring Adenocarcinoma on September 4th, 2008. His physicians believe the disease started in his stomach and metastasized to his brain, bones, bladder, and lungs before we even knew he had cancer in his body. Our daughter, Claire, was born a mere seven weeks before we received the news that would change us forever and Liam was only five years old. Mike fought an amazing battle with such bravery and courage for seven months until his body could not take any more.
Mike had an immense love for his children, he loved coaching Liam’s baseball team, and he would handle Claire with the gentlest hands. He was very proud of his accomplishments of being an attorney and a CPA. He had undeniable love for three teams… the Cubs, the Bears, and the University of Notre Dame’s football team. He was the most caring, selfless, compassionate, and strong-willed person even up to the end. In his 33 years, he was an example to his friends and family of what a gentleman looks like and we wish to honor his memory through this golf tournament for the Cancer Center for Healthy Living.
